On this day, September 25th, 2026, the 143 Movement and inaugural Challenge is officially launched! 143 days of daily movement to cultivate and shine love.
My Commitment
For the next 143 days, I will move 1.43+ miles and do 143+ movements every day—as an act of love—for myself, family, and humanity—and to joyfully share my journey from my heart.
What is the 143 Movement?
Why "143"? It means "I love you"—-one letter, four letters, three letters.
Why "Movement"? Because I believe that Love makes the world go round and movement is Love made visible. And it starts with me, you, and all of us, today.
Arc of Love: Decades in the Making
My spiritual mentor and uncle, Uncle Clay said, "Love is the most powerful force in the Universe". In fact, my very first project with him--eighteen years ago--was to produce the "Pure Aloha Now Movement" video. Many people (myself included) think of Uncle Clay as Hawaii's own Mr. Rogers.
Fred Rogers treasured 143 as shorthand for I love you — and he lived it in all ways, from his daily swims to the songs he sang. When I was twelve, Mr. Rogers wrote me a personal letter. I'm thirty-eight now, and I still carry its precious words in my heart.
In early 2026 while training for a marathon, the vision for the 143 Movement struck me — clear and simple: move with love, first for yourself, then for others, for the rest of your life. Over the next six months, my wife and I welcomed our second son, and the idea incubated and then crystallized during the Heroic Flourishing Accelerator, where I met Heroic coach Tom Norwood. It's a joy to co-pilot this challenge with his big heart and useful experience with leading similar community initiatives, and a real honor to do this inaugural cohort within the Heroic community!
And, last and the most, it's so very special to be doing this alongside Katie--my wife, better half, and buddy for this challenge.
